Welcome to the International Print Biennale 2014

Print Awards 2014  37 shortlisted artists have been selected from 740 entries from across the globe and will be on show at Northern Printand Hatton Gallery throughout the Biennale. The Preview event will take place from 5pm - 6.30pm at Northern Print and from 6pm - 8pm at Hatton Gallery with the winners announced at 7pm at Hatton Gallery. Who is your favourite? Memory Process, Becky Haughton 27 June - 8 August | FREE The Customs House Exhibitor in the Print Award in 2011 Haughton's work explores the development of an image from family holiday snapshots to drawing book via digital software and printmaking. Also showing at The Customs House - Louise Bradley, Susan Dobson and Emma Holiday.

Everyday Collateral, Cecilia Stenbom 7 June - 19 July | FREE Workplace Gallery Working across media including paint, print, and moving image Stenbom explores how the individual deals with actual danger and imagined threat in a consumer driven world.

In and Out of Windows, Various artists  27 June - 9 August | FREE Vane  Work from international artists Kerstin Drechsel, Jorn Ebner, Alison Unsworth, Jock Mooeny and Michael Mulvihill.

Invited artist, Bedwyr Williams 27 June - 9 August, Hatton Gallery | FREE Bedwyr Williams was invited to exhibit by selector David Nash RA and has made a new series of prints specifically for the Biennale. The prints are film posters for his recent film ‘Echt’ commissioned by Tramway, Glasgow earlier this year. You can see the film and hear Bedwyr Talk about his work on Saturday 28 June at Star & Shadow as part of the Contemporary Art Society Tour. (details left)

Selected Artists - Print Awards 2014
Julie Roch-Cuerrier, National Glass Centre Residency 21 June - 10 August  |  FREE National Glass Centre Selected to take part in a ten-day residency at National Glass Centre to explore the potential of printing on glass. The resulting work will form the basis of this exhibition.	Carolyn Bunt 27 June - 8 August, Hatton Gallery | FREE  Using photographic images of reductive architectural interiors and landscapes Carolyn Bunt engages the viewer intensely in the act of looking and concentrates on a visual scrutiny into which the viewer is drawn.	Jason File 27 June - 8 August, Hatton Gallery | FREE In this exhibition specifically developed for the Print Awards 2014, File offers a sharp commentary on the increasing extent to which our relationship with institutions are governed by formal legal language and illustrates the aesthetic and physical potential of office paper as an artistic print medium

Life Drawing at mima 3 July 2014 | 5.45pm - 6.45pm | £3.50 Join mima for an informal session that explores a variety of approaches and printmaking techniques. A clothed model is used and materials are provide	Candlelit Talk - The Life and Times of Thomas Bewick 26 June | 7pm - 9pm | £5  Discover the life and times of Northumberland's greatest artist and naturalist with a fascinating and amospheric candlelit talk from a local expert followed by coffee and cake.

	I’m on a date… Whether you’ve just met, or fit each other like comfortable old socks, a lunchtime date is always fun, especially if you love art and culture. The International Print Biennale offers a range of short excursions and we’ve provided you with a couple of ideas for putting together a culturally creative daytime date to remember.

Summer showcase, Bruegel to Freud: Print from The Courtauld Gallery 19 June – 21 September 2014 | £6 The Courtauld Gallery, London This Summer Showcase provides visitors with an introduction to the largest but least known part of the Gallery’s outstanding collection – its holding of prints. This selection of 30 remarkable and intriguing examples spans more than 500 years and encompasses a variety of rintmaking techniques. Printmaking classes Throughout the Biennale, Northern Print will be running its usual programme of printmaking classes and courses taught by a team of expert printmakers so if you are visiting the North East why not make the most of your trip by learning a new skill? Forthcoming classes includeCyanotype on Sat 12 July and Introduction to Screenprinting on Fri 18 and Sat 19 July.
