Concurso de Fotografia – Floresta, a nossa Herança Global

O Concurso de Fotografia – Floresta, a nossa Herança Global tem o intuito de celebrar o Ano Internacional das Florestas. Este Concurso é uma iniciativa organizada pela LPN – Liga de Protecção da Natureza e pela CGD – Caixa Geral de Depósitos, com o apoio da Olhares e da Yunit. Tem como principal objectivo a sensibilização de todos os povos para a preservação e desenvolvimento sustentáveis das Florestas e o conhecimento do papel decisivo que as mesmas desempenham para o Bem Global. Inscrições até 25 de Setembro.

“Floresta, a Nossa Herança Global”
O tema escolhido propõe várias abordagens no que concerne à Floresta, permitindo que o registo fotográfico capte diferentes olhares e aspectos da vida do ecossistema florestal do país.
Serão avaliados e premiados os trabalhos que representarem a “Melhor Mensagem”, a “Melhor Fotografia” e a “Floresta Autóctone”, as três categorias a concurso.

	EXHIBITION CATEGORY
	The open contest exhibition includes two categories : print and drawing.
	ELIGIBILITY
	The contest is open to both Thai and foreign artists.
	CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENT OF ENTRY Artists may submit works in both categories. All works should be created from the year of 2010 and must never have received  any previous awards. All works must be created and signed by the artist him/herself. For the Print category, all techniques, whether single or multiple utilization, including monoprints and digital prints will be accepted. Prints should be on paper only (no other surface allowed). For the Drawing category, all techniques and combinations, including the following media: charcoal, pencil, ink, pastel, crayon, pen, etc. or mixed techniques  will be accepted. A size of work on the paper should not less than 40x60 cm. and should not exceed 80 x 120 cm. All works should be encased in tubes and sent by post.
	SUBMISSION FOR INITIAL SCREENING Artists must submit a CD of the art work. Each artist may submit a maximum of  3 entries per category. Submission must include the details of each art work, name of the artist, name of the work, techniques, year of creating work and size of work. Submission of the works for the initial screening must be sent in the form of  CD (digital system) in JPEG file. The file size should not more than 3,000x 2,400 pixels, with the delicateness of  150 pixels,  The period for submission CDs  should be postmarked no earlier than August 1st and no later than August 20th, 2011  by post. Silpakorn University reserves the right to exclude late entries arriving later than the specified period of submission. Silpakorn University reserves the right to keep all CDs of the artists’works entered for the initial screening and the CDs will not be returned to the artists.
	TERMS AND CONDITIONS CDs submitted for the initial screening will not be returned  to the artists. All award-winning works become part of the collection of Silpakorn University and Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of Culture, Thailand, except Purchase Prize winning works will be part of the collection of the sponsors. Silpakorn University retains the right to photograph and print photographs of prize winning works and selected works for use in catalogues, public relations (non-commercial publicity) and for educational purposes only, including the right to post images of the works on any relevant media, inclusive of web-site on a long-term basis.
	RETURNING WORKS For overseas residents, Silpakorn University will be responsible for repackaging all the works appropriately in the tubes and returning by post to the artists. For Thai residents, the contestants can pick up the original works at : Art and Culture Office,  L  Floor, Office of the President, Silpakorn University, Thailand   The university will notify the contestants for the exact period of time available   for picking up the works after. The university will not be responsible for any loss   or damage to works which are not collected within the notified period of time. The university will give each contestant a copy of the bilingual exhibition catalogue.

hands on door handles
COLOMBO DESIGN, a leading italian manufacturer of handles and accessories for doors and windows,
is dedicated to a discerning quality of design that combines technological innovation with
excellence in industrial manufacturing procedures, adopting only eco-compatible processes
in every stage of production. the COLOMBO DESIGN state-of-the-art product catalogue features door handle
projects created by protagonists of today's international design scene, among them
carlo bartoli, jean marie massaud, jasper morrison, michele de lucchi, alberto meda and konstantin grcic.
with this competition, COLOMBO DESIGN aims to expand the horizons of door handles.

the door handle is an exciting medium
in the field of internal door and window furniture the path between innovation and what is
considered repetition or re-design of 'classical' forms is narrow. if it is true that through the
years the most successful models have been variations on basic forms, it is also true that
door handles are an exciting medium for contemporary forms. along the qualitative line
of their long formal (sculptural) tradition, door handles have always expressed and matched
the changing lifestyle choices of society. this competition is a difficult aesthetic and technical
challenge to stimulate design innovation with much attention to detail.

for everyday use, and not for gadget display
we are not looking for excessive-aggressive styling or new radical high tech solutions.
please refrain from all those overworked concepts of randomly including interactive technologies
to encourage behavioral transformation. door handle designs with incorporated LED lights,
the latest cool audio or video gadgets, cell phones etc. will not be considered as relevant.
this is an opportunity of developing a real product, a simple, but important functional object.
the scope of the co-organizing company COLOMBO DESIGN is to manufacture the best door handles
of this competition.

the basics of door lever handle hardware
sweeping forms are great, a sleek and shiny appearance too, but please also consider that
indoor handles use commonly marketed mechanical parts, which are conforming to the
relevant building and safety standards. the actual sizes of the levers vary, but convenient
measurements have been widely adopted and hardware manufacturers make their products
to fit these standards. the bore hole size, cross bore size and the thickness of the doors are
to be considered, (in the case of non-standard door thicknesses, customized pins are available).
most door handle levers are mounted on a round rose, however new designs may include square,
oval and other shapes of roses. other important factors are robustness, the thickness of the
rose plates, smooth or angular finished edges (for purposes of visual accentuation), …
last but not least, the handle set itself (as a door has two sides, a door requires two handles
- a left and a right version).

free-style
experimental projects are very welcome and considered appropriate if they match the few technical
requirements cited. in this case, a pragmatic design approach of 'making do' to verify the quality
of your door handle design through mock-ups or prototypes is very appreciated.

02 - awards
the designers of 3 winning entries will be granted with cash prize awards 
of € 3000 euro each.
the jury will also award the best free-style entry with a minor award of € 1000 euro.
there is the opportunity for finalist / winning designs to be developed into real products 
for the COLOMBO DESIGN design catalogue. in the event that COLOMBO DESIGN exercises the option 
to use the rights for production
on an exclusive basis and sine die (without time limitations), 
COLOMBO DESIGN undertakes to pay a royalty of annual sales to the designer. 

and as always, designboom will publish an exhaustive results report.

04 - design criteria 
projects should not be currently in production, 
previously published or exhibited projects are not accepted!it is important that you keep your design(s) confidential until the results of
the competition are published.
the jury will award designs and concepts which are innovative in terms of their formal aspects.
please don't send in vague concepts, but go a step further. it's not the idea which is the art, 
it's more the way somebody handles the idea that makes art.

---10 - intellectual property rights
any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for submission is the designer’s property.
however, 
by submitting a design in the competition, the participant agrees to provideCOLOMBO DESIGN with the right of first refusal to the exclusive use of
the design. this option is valid for 6 months after the competition will end.
in the event that COLOMBO DESIGN exercises the option to use the rights for production
on an exclusive basis and sine die (without time limitations),COLOMBO DESIGN undertakes to pay a royalty of annual sales to the designer. 
and,
by participating in the competition, all participants authorise DESIGNBOOM
and COLOMBO DESIGN to publish and exhibit all the designs (including project data submitted)
– waiving compensation – at exhibitions and events and/or to use them in any
publications or communications that the organisers may deem suitable and/or necessary.

Concurso para criação de logomarca comemorativa dos 110 anos do Instituto Butantan

O Instituto Butantan está promovendo um concurso para definir a logomarca comemorativa de seu aniversário de 110 anos. Aberto à comunidade, o concurso vai contemplar o autor da logomarca escolhida com um prêmio de R$ 2 mil - resultado a ser anunciado no dia 23 de fevereiro, data de aniversário da instituição.

Os trabalhos devem ser eviados até o dia 18 através do email butantan110anos@butantan.gov.br, ou entregues pessoalmente na sede da Assessoria de Imprensa na Diretoria Técnica do Instituto Butantan, de segunda à sexta das 9h às 18h.

A Comissão Organizadora do 110º Aniversário do Instituto Butantan vai levar em consideração critérios como criatividade, originalidade, aplicabilidade e relação com as comemorações de 110 anos da instituição, e a logomarca vencedora será utilizada durante todo o ano de 2011 em cartazes, timbres de aplicação em impressos e mídias digitais.
