Spotlight on: Paper Lithography

Roxanne Faber Savage, Wood on Wood (detail)

Still a few spaces left in this weekend workshop...
with Roxanne Faber Savage

September 21 - September 22,
10 am - 4 pm each day
Open to 8 participants | all levels welcome

Paper lithography is a planographic printmaking process, relying on the separation of water and oil. The matrix or printing plate is standard copy paper. In the workshop, the capabilities of the copy machine are explored by using drawings, photographs, and sketchbook imagery to create plates.

Participants learn ways to develop imagery on a copier, mix inks, ink and wipe paper plates to create excellent image transfers from a paper matrix.
Roxanne Faber Savage is an interdisciplinary artist, with printmaking as her primary art form. She is a seasoned educator and master Teaching Artist on the Connecticut Commission on Art and Tourism Teaching Artist Roster. Roxanne is an award winning artist, receiving recognition for her innovative and original prints on paper, plastic, silk and metal.  She has extensive education in printmaking and drawing, studying internationally in Italy and the U.S. Her works are featured in solo and invitational exhibits, and are held in private and corporate collections.  She earned her BFA from Pratt Institute and her M.S. Ed from Queens College.

Beyond the Digital Print
with Mary Taylor

September 27, 28 and 29, Friday through Sunday
10 am to 4 pm each day

Open to 8 participants | all levels welcome

This workshop is for artists who want to learn how to create alternatives to photo paper digital prints. Combining ordinary materials with acrylic paints and mediums, participants learn how to create one-of-a-kind surfaces for direct inkjet printing and step-by-step pigment (inkjet) transfer print techniques that can be applied to wood, canvas, collage, metal and acrylic. The techniques taught are Mary Taylor's adaptations of the processes presented in the two popular books, Digital Art Studio and Digital Alchemy. The workshop emphasizes exploration and experimentation with integrative processes.
