Takuji Hamanaka
is exhibiting a new series of his unique collages in a show entitled Takuji Hamanaka: Weaving Light at the Owen James Gallery. The show opens on September 8 and continues to October 8, 2017. In these new pieces, he starts with Bokashi printing on individual sheets of Washi paper, creating light to dark gradations of single colors. He then cuts these sheets into smaller pieces, often in diamond or triangle shapes, and rearranges them with other cut pieces to create new compositions of luminous color fields, reminiscent of stars in the night sky or stained glass windows. The gallery is located at 61 Greenpoint Avenue, Suite 315, in Brooklyn, NY. Tel: 718-395-4874

Gallery 690 Rotation at The Met Fifth Avenue
Each rotation of the prints and drawings on view for 13 weeks in the Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. Gallery at The Metropolitan Museum of Art features a unique melange of visual culture in the graphic arts. Currently, there are special groupings such as: "In Focus: Touched Proofs" featuring early stage intaglios that have been drawn into by the artists as they feel out changes or the direction of work. Featured are single prints by Stefano Della Bella (Italian, 17th Cent.), Charles Meyron (French, 19th Cent.), Reginald Marsh (American, 20th Cent.) and 3 others; "African American Printmakers and the WPA" with lithos by Sargent Claude Johnson, a drypoint (1939) by Dox Thrash (who was the first African American hired by the Fine Print Workshop of Philadelphia, the first WPA studio devoted exclusively to printmaking) and work by other artists.
