Cathy Paine
was an award-winning professional dance/choreographer/performance improviser for 35 years, in spite of the fact that her mother, father, step-mother, and step-father were librarians, writers, and or editors. Books have always had a special place in her life (and in her home), and she started creating them after retiring from the stage. She has studied bookmaking and paper arts in Pittsburgh with Pam Sussman, Diane Maurer, and Daniel Essig, and is currently exploring the relationship between the physical construction of a book and its use or content. Also a writer, Cathy has yet to find her way into combining the two forms. But give her some time...
