Dear Artist,

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina strives to be a center of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge and to be a place of dialogue, tolerance and understanding between cultures and peoples. It aspires to be the world’s window on Egypt and Egypt’s window on the world. In the light of this, the Arts Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina initiates and hosts numerous creative events in all art forms especially those concerned with the visual arts.

Following the success of its first and second rounds in 2009 and 2011, we are delighted to launch the Third Round of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Biennale For Miniature Graphics to be opened in April 2013.

We are now receiving entries from artists who wish to participate in the Third Round alongside many artists from various countries. You are invited to submit samples of your work of miniature prints to be reviewed by the Biennale’s selection committee.

Please read the guidelines carefully, fill in the application form fully and attach documents requested in the guidelines.

Guidelines for Participation

-       Deadline to apply is the 30th of October 2012.

-       All applications should be sent by email, applications sent by regular mail will not be considered.

-       Please attach your CV (in English) to the email.

-       Please attach sample pictures of 5 artworks to the email.

-        We will send a confirmation of acceptance by email.

-        Only selected artists can send their works, please do not send artworks without a confirmation of acceptance from our part. If we receive art works that we did not request, we will not be able to return them.

-       Selected artists will receive full information on how to send their artworks.

-       The size of the print should not exceed 10 x 10 cm, the size of the paper must not exceed 21 x 24 cm to fit in especially pre-prepared frames (inner size of the frame 22 x 25 cm including the matting).

-       Every artist is invited to participate with 3 artworks.

-       All art works will remain as donation and will become part of the permanent Art Collection of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.                                                    
-       Accepted techniques are :
1.    Lithograph
2.    Intaglio
3.    Screen-printing
4.    Wood and Lino cut
5.    Wood engravings.
Digital prints are not accepted
- The deadline to receive the art works at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is the 31st of December 2012. 
- A catalogue featuring all artworks in actual size will be printed. One copy will     be sent to each participating artist.
- Artists  will receive a certificate recognizing their participation and donation.

- The opening of the exhibition will be held on the 11th of April 2013.
