Books as Art: Techniques for Creating Artist Books - Mary Taylor - Connecticut - EUA

Books as Art: Techniques for
Creating Artist Books
with Mary Taylor

July 12 - 14

Friday - Sunday, 10 am - 4 pm
10 am to 4 pm each day
Open to 8 participants; all levels welcome

This is a workshop for artists/photographers/printmakers who want to create handmade books using contemporary and traditional art processes. Participants work with an abundance of materials to create unique books layered with content. Learn several different book structures: drumleaf, ox plow, accordion fold and pamphlet sewn. Create book pages and book covers from a variety of materials using decorative paper techniques, such as gelatin prints and paste painting and learn how to transfer inkjet prints to paper, metal and other materials.

Please note: The computer is a minor focus in this workshop. Some experience sizing photos and text and printing from a computer is helpful for artists who want to add text or overprint onto existing prints.
