International Print Biennale launches in two weeks' time on Friday 16 September and you are warmly invited to attend preview events for the prestigious 2016 Print Awards exhibitions at Gallery North, Northern Printand Vane in Newcastle upon Tyne.

2016 Print Awards Exhibition Previews
The 2016 Print Awards are the centerpiece of International Print Biennale and showcase the most exciting artists working in print right now from across the world. Following an international call for artists, this exhibition, taking place across three venues, presents the work of 31 artists chosen from over 780 entries.
The Print Awards prize winners will be announced at 5pm on Friday 16 September and you can find out who the recipients are live on the night by following our Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Following the announcements you can view the prizewinning prints alongside all the selected work at Gallery North, Northern Print and Vane - as well as meet many of the exhibiting artists - please find details below.
Previews at all three venues will simultaneously take place 6.00-8.00pm
This year's Print Awards international selection panel were Christiane Baumgartner, David Cleaton-Roberts and Sune Nordgren. Each selector also invited one artist to exhibit and we are pleased to present works by Marina Bindella (Italy), Cornelia Parker, (UK) and Adam Saks (Denmark). |

Craigie Aitchison and Anthony Frost: Screenprints Fri 16 September - Sat 15 October Gallagher & Turner, Newcastle upon Tyne

Frost’s use of bold shapes, broad strokes and quick dots reflect his love of music, while Aitchison’s sparse, but considered compositions of crucifixions or Bedlington terriers build to create a spiritual, poetic atmosphere.

Scrum Print – The World’s Longest Linocut Fri 16 September - Sun 30 October Newcastle City Library
Mon-Thurs 10am-7pm; Fri 10am-5pm; Sat 10am-4pm; Sun 11am-4pm
Printed using a rugby scrum machine and teams of rugby players, this 33 metre long linocut was created by over 1000 children and adults across England and Wales with contributions from all twenty competing nations.
