"Arte e Polis"
Dal 17 al 25 ottobre 2015 la Fortezza da Basso di Firenze ospita la decima edizione di Florence Biennale – Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea di Firenze, sul tema "Arte e Polis".
Sono oltre 423 gli artisti che giungeranno da 62 diverse nazioni e che trasformeranno la Fortezza da Basso di Firenze nell'ideale città degli artisti: creativi esordienti, emergenti o già affermati, tutti impegnati nella sperimentazione di materiali e tecniche attraverso le principali forme di espressione artistica visiva in esposizione: pittura, scultura, opere su carta, fotografia, installazione, video art, digital art, mixed media e performance. A questa decima edizione previste anche tre nuove categorie artistiche: ceramica, arte tessile e gioiello d’arte.
Sono attesi artisti di fama internazionale: l'argentina Marta Minujín, pioniera dell’arte effimera declinata in happenings con installazioni e performance delle cosiddette "sculture viventi", il pittore e scultore Giampaolo Talani, rinnovatore dell’antica tecnica dell’affresco nella contemporaneità, e il fotografo e regista Mario Carbone, vincitore del “Leone d'Argento” alla Biennale di Venezia con il documentario "Firenze, novembre 1966", una straordinaria testimonianza dell’alluvione di Firenze.
E un’attesissima ospite d’eccezione!
Un ricco programma di conferenze, mostre collaterali, performance e incontri didattici offrirà agli artisti e ai visitatori tante opportunità di incontro e confronto sui principali temi dell’arte contemporanea.

"Art and the Polis"
From October 17 to 25, 2015 the Fortezza da Basso in Florence hosts the tenth edition of Florence Biennale – International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, with the theme "Art and the Polis".
More than 423 artists representing 62 countries spread across all continents will transform the Fortezza da Basso in the ideal city of artists: emerging and established artists, all committed to the experimentation of styles, materials and techniques through all forms of visual artistic expression. The participating categories are painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, installation, video art, digital art, mixed media, and performance; for this tenth edition the Biennale welcomes three new artistic categories: ceramics, textile art and jewelry art.
The renowned artistic figures that will be our Lifetime Achievement Awardees are: the Argentinean Marta Minujín, pioneer of ephemeral art declined in happenings with installations and performances of the so-called "living sculptures", the painter and sculptor Giampaolo Talani, and the photographer and director Mario Carbone, winner of the "Silver Lion" at the Venice Biennale with the documentary "Firenze, November 1966", an extraordinary testimony of the tragic flood in Florence. And an eagerly awaited special guest!
The Biennale presents a rich program featuring conferences, exhibits, workshops, performances, and educational events, offering artists and visitors a variety of opportunities to learn and discuss on the some of the most current themes of art and culture.
