„In remembrance of the TITANIC the event of the century ”
within the project ”STRONG WATER”
The motive of the exhihibition
From 14 April to 9 May 2012 in Riga and other cities an international exhibition “In remembrance of the TITANIC the event of the century” is going to take place within the project “STRONG WATER”.
Water, as a vital ingredient in our lives, is a sensitive substance with reflections of memories, in multiform molecular formulas with the ability to contrary dimensionally change: they cen be the driving force in one’s life, oppositely they can turn into a destructive elements.
The first etching exhibition The Etching Guild organized was in Riga, 2010. The emphasis was put on the intaglio techinque – etching, that is one of the melodious techniques in graphic art. At the moment we are offering graphics masters to focus on the theme of the Titanic by using a wider range of graphics, where the identity of the technique is cliche and handiwork. This grants the originality and uniqueness to the state of graphic arts. It is essential to maintain the presence of the traditional technique, which becomes more valuable over time and does not have reimbursment.
We will be honored to see your works of art in Riga. We are planning continuation of this exhibition for 2 years in other cities and in harbor cities.
- Only entries made using the traditional techniques of the original graphic art will be accepted for the Competition.
- Photos created with year 1912 methods and technologies will also be accepted for the exhibition. calotype ( daguerreotype, blueprint, ambrotype, tintypes, ferrotype, bromoil, autochrome, pinhole )
- The Competition is open to all artists.
- The number of artwork is not limited.
- The maximum dimensions of artwork are 70cm x 80 cm. (paper size).
