MARCH 24 - 25, 2018, 10am - 4pm
Saturday-Sunday, 2-day workshop
Class size 4-8, All Levels
$250 members, $300 non-members
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process in the 20th century as a simple and low-cost process to produce "Blueprints". Jo will be demonstrating how to make Cyanotype photograms using two chemicals, ammonium iron(III) citrate and potassium ferricyanide. After applying the photo-sensitive emulsion on your choice of paper, artists will use glass or other objects to act as stencils which are placed on its surface to make the photogram. The coated paper and stencils will be exposed to UV light to create the print.

Tuesday-Friday, 4-day workshop
Class size 4-8, All Levels
$475 members, $525 non-members
In this workshop participants will use relief monoprinting to explore the unique properties and possibilities of Akua Intaglio Inks. Using carved blocks, artists will explore a variety of ways to print yielding a range of results. The workshop will include the woodblocks necessary to print and will cover how to modify inks, offset images, use ghosts, and viscosity rolls, as well as cut blocks, sharpen tools and registration techniques, and chine collé. Opportunities for "controlled accidents" and "calculated spontaneity" are encouraged to answer the questions of what, and how, and why, as well as who you are as an artist. Emphasis will be put on identifying and enhancing the synergy between each participant's engagements with printmaking.

Monday-Thursday, 4-day workshop
Class size 4-8, Intermediate Levels
$425 members, $475 non-members
This workshop introduces artists to the basic fundamentals and concepts of monotype printing in an environment that practices newly developed ideas and methodologies. Participants will learn how to develop an image, how to transfer the image to paper, and how to print with emphasis on the development of each class member's aesthetic concerns as well as exercises in color and color relationships. The workshop will begin with group demos covering basic oil-based monotype, moving onto more advanced chine-colle' and Xerox lithography processes. During this workshop artists will also be working with multiple plates, second pulls (ghosts), stencils, wet and dry paper, and a variety of mixed approaches ending with a group critique.
